about as pleasurable as rubbing an elbow

Sooooooooooo, what did everyone do this weekend? I photographed a wedding in a forest, worked in my shop and went to a total of 2 parties (ooo, get me, party animal) but this was nothing compared to what the good people of San Francisco were up to! On Sunday, the city with the most famous suicide point in America were host to a Self-Pleasure Marathon!! Yes indeed, you are understanding this correctly - a big old wankathon. Congratulations America you really are something, sometimes. Read this article and ponder at why the biggest tosser in America (and maybe the world) Mr George. W. Bush (we all know what the 'W' really stands for...) wasn't taking part.

This is a quiz completely based around animals (which attracted me obviously, can't resist the old - 'if there was only one animal in the world you could save which would it be?' type questions!) that gives you the keys to your heart (apparently) here's what it said for me....just incase anyone was at all interested. Which, you know, I'm sure no one actually is...*sigh*

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to obedience and warmth.

In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you're told that you're loved.

You'd like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.

Your ideal relationship is traditional. Without saying anything, both of you communicate with your hearts.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something that will confine you. You are afraid of marriage.

In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You'll do anything for love, but you won't fall for it easily.

So I hope everyone went to vote today. If the Tories get in I shall leave the country. Thinking about it though, if this happens and I actually leave the country, I will be so grateful to the Tories for curing me of my agoraphobia that I will probably vote for them the next time round. hmmmmmm. They'd better bloody not get in, is all I can say.

Hey, it's time for a party political broadcast from the Emotionally Fragile and Extrememly Confused party. My broadcast is HELP! I thought I knew who I was going to vote for, now I'm not so sure, but here's what apparently I should be voting for based on my views....
Who Should You Vote For?

Who should I vote for? v2

Your expected outcome:

Liberal Democrat

Your actual outcome:

Labour 15
Conservative -53
Liberal Democrat 127
UKIP -28
Green 131

You should vote: Green

The Green Party, which is of course strong on environmental issues, takes a strong position on welfare issues, but was firmly against the war in Iraq. Other key concerns are cannabis, where the party takes a liberal line, and foxhunting, which unsurprisingly the Greens are firmly against. The Greens are also anti-Europe.

Take the test at Who Should You Vote For

Unfortunately due to the colouring of my weblog you can't make out the party names above - the results are 15 Labour, -53 Conservative, 127 Lib Dem, -28 Ukip and coming out top, 131 Green. It's a close one! My confusion lies mainly in whether we should be part of Europe or not. What does everyone else think? I think I understand the concerns about free trade held by some parties including the Green Party. However, we already get most of our food produce from other countries at huge costs to the environment and local businesses, we already get most of our clothes made for us in sweatshops by exploited people in poorer countries - how is this Europe thing going to make this worse? I feel I need to understand this before I decide who to vote for.

Also, should we believe the hype? Should we believe Tony Blair when he tells us that a vote for any other party than Labour is a vote for Michael Howard? Is this a desperate man on a losing battle trying to scare us Lefty's into giving our Lib Dem or Green vote to Labour? Or is this the truth?

There is one thing I do believe though, that voting is important, even if the Conservatives do get in (which, don't get me wrong, would be a fucking disaster) my vote for an alternative party will have secured someone in parliament to disagree with everything the government is trying to pass! This is why I try to encourage people I know to vote cos, there seem to be so many great people out there that don't vote cos they think that Labour or Conservative will get in so what's the point. I think there is always a point, even if there is no party out there that shares all your exact beliefs, go for the nearest one and when they get in - lobby them with the views you think they should have! Simplistic view I know, but positivity will get you everywhere. If you can't believe in democracy, what can you believe in?
